So Andy shared some parental wisdom with me a few weeks ago that really stuck. He was talking about having moments of "pure joy" with the kids. He said that most of the time being a parent is a lot of hard work (me nodding my head vigorously) but every once in awhile you unexpectedly stumble upon a moment of pure joy. They can't be planned and part of the joy is the surprise of the feeling. But they make everything worth it. So here is a picture of one of my pure joy moments. I can't explain why it was (perhaps because I had been cleaning up vomit for the last 48 hours) but it kept me smiling for a long time after it was over. Even when Max puked...again.

Their smiles are adorable. I understand what Andy means. I have had the experience of pure joy recently when Liam is sleeping. He is just so all over the place all day, I never have a second to really just look at him and experience it as much as I do when he is asleep. I will just watch him sleeping and breathing and I just love being a mom so much no matter how much play dough he smashes into the carpet.
Jamie, I experienced one of those "pure joy" moments when I read your profile. Probably nothing makes a parent happier than to see his children doing good and trying their best to be their best. You are a great example to all of us. Dad
