Garden

So we planted a garden a few weeks ago. From seeds. I'm usually a pick-up-a-half-grown-plant-and-stick-it-in-the-dirt sort of girl, but this year we decided to start from scratch. (Meaning I sent my cheap husband to the garden center and when he saw the price of the tomato plants he came home with a bunch of seed packets).
It's been a very exciting process watching this small plot of earth. I feel I am witnessing a miracle when I see that tiny bit of green trying to push up through the soil. It's fair to say that it is not just Max that makes us check the garden 2 and 3 times a day. But really, with my track record regarding plant death, it's understandable. I am perhaps the only person unable to grow zucchini. Seriously. It's sad.
And yesterday I was going to thin the plants, you know, to give them room to grow.
How wrong is that? Pulling out these beautiful plants that have worked so hard to put down roots and grow, only to be destroyed by my whim. Why do I get to decide who will live and who will perish?
In the end I couldn't do it. I decided to let them battle it out on their own. I'm just not ready for that kind of power right now.

You are alive! I had to thin my plants a few weeks ago, it was heartbreaking. Call me!

Hahahahaha, what a sweet post. The only thing I can grow is my hair...

Jamie, I am laughing so hard because this post reminded me how much us Marinos people are alike. I also went to the store to get tomato plants and came home with seeds. Ours just started to sprout as well and it is me who goes out and looks at them 3 times a day because I am in shock that it is actually working.
