Carter

Carter turned 3 a few weeks ago and all he wanted to do for his birthday was to "go on the train at the beach".

So we did.

Some things about Carter-

Carter is very into "funny" these days. For example: "I'm funny" as he runs away from me at the store laughing like a maniac. Or "you're funny" when I tell him he can't have a treat. Sometimes in the middle of a temper tantrum, his screams will turn into giggles and he'll tell us how funny he is right now. He had a doctor's appointment last week and as the nurse was giving him his immunizations he was sobbing "this is not funny mommy!"

Carter has always been a do-it-my-own-way kind of kid. He still sleeps anywhere but his bed. Usually on the rocking chair, but last night it was the tile floor of the bathroom. On Sundays he runs out of our pew as soon as the prayer is over and takes himself to nursery. And he's teaching himself how to read- he knows all his letters and the sounds they make and the other day I found him trying to sound out words in a book. Sometimes I start to panic when I hear him telling fart jokes with his brothers, thinking that he is so independent and growing up too fast and won't need me anymore- But then he crawls into my lap with his blankie and his fingers in his mouth, and says "hold me like your baby".
Thank goodness.

Happy Birthday Carter!

Oh my! Carter is too cute - and too smart. This really makes me miss you guys. You really are coming to Utah in July, aren't you? And did Max lose a tooth?
